Conclusion First
Static weight tells you how heavy the entire paddle is; balance point indicates whether the weight is closer to the head or the handle; swing feel is the combined result of weight distribution during actual motion. Consider all three together when choosing a paddle.
Static Weight
- Helps confirm the finished paddle weight range
- Cannot alone indicate paddle recovery speed or wrist strain
Balance and Swing
- When the head feels heavier, the feel of initiating the swing and recovering to the ready position may change
- A longer handle or elongated paddle shape also alters the leverage feel during movement
How to Test
- Perform consecutive forehand and backhand quick blocks
- Execute an equal number of serves and baseline drives
- Record paddle recovery and contact point before and after fatigue sets in
